Artists' Open Call

The Croton Council on the Arts (CCoA) in conjunction with the Croton Free Library (CFL) is excited to announce a 2026 open call — celebrating women’s history month! Women artists in all stages of their careers from, or living in, Croton-on-Hudson are welcome to submit their works to be included for this special opportunity. With this two-month exhibition, we aim to highlight the wealth of talent, skill and artistic creativity found here.

We hope this show in March and April 2026, as well as other March events, will provide great opportunities for the many talented artists in our community to showcase their work while celebrating the achievements of women artists who preceded them.

Jury-selected works will be exhibited with sales encouraged, at the library’s Ottinger Room. Please join us for this special celebration as we continue to engage with the artist community, hoping to make a difference in all our lives.

Exhibitor Information and Exhibition Requirements

Eligibility

Only women artists who live or have lived in Croton-on-Hudson are eligible to submit. Artists in any stage of their careers are encouraged to apply.

Exhibition Dates: March—April 2026

Last Day to Submit: January 4, 2026
Juror's Picks Announced: February 12, 2026
Drop off Date: March 2, 2026, 5-8:30 pm
Opening Reception Date : March 7, 2026, 1-4:00 pm
Pick up Date: April 30, 2026, 5-8:30 pm

Important Notes:

The show is juried by Donna Prizzi, fine artist and arts instructor. The juror’s decisions are final.
Up to three works may be submitted reflecting the theme, Women’s Viewpoints - Ourselves, Our World
Multiple works may be accepted.
Photographs, giclées or artificial-intelligence pieces will not be accepted.

Guidelines:

There is an application fee of $35, inclusive of three pieces.
All artworks must be framed and ready to hang.
Applications must include an Artist Statement and Bio.
Artworks may be for sale, with the understanding that 20% of the sale price will be taken as a tax-deductible donation to the Library, and an additional 10% to CCoA.

Exhibition Requirements:

No refunds of the application fee – there are no refunds if work is not delivered to, or accepted into the show.
Work must have been created in the last three years and not previously exhibited in the library.
Work, must be framed, ready to hang, eye hooks recessed, with braided wire to use the Library hanging system.
Waiver for Pictures Taken/Used: Entry into this exhibition constitutes permission to photograph you and/or your artwork and to use any images in promotional materials for the exhibition and for the CFL and the CCoA.
Liability: Entries will be handled with all possible care, but artists submitting work agree to hold harmless the CFL and CCoA, their agents and employees, from any claim of damage or theft that might arise from any cause whatsoever. Artists should arrange for proper insurance coverage for their work.
The artist affirms that the artist is the sole owner of the artwork and that it be original to the artist and does not infringe upon or violate any copyright.
You agree that you are solely responsible for your work, and you acknowledge that neither the Croton Free Library nor the Croton Council on the Arts are a party to, or in any way involved with, sales at the show, and you are responsible for any New York State sales taxes that apply.

Submissions require all of the following:

Artist Full Name, Email Address, Home Address, Phone Number
Short Bio and Artist statements not exceeding 100 words submitted as PDF files
High Quality Images of the Artwork with Title, Year, Medium, Framed Size and Price
Link to website and/or Social Media, IF APPLICABLE

Submission of work constitutes agreement with all conditions stated above.
